Christopher Lee Sisk is entering a new phase of music and sound structure as simply Christopher Sisk, after nine years of hiding behind monikers such as Creature, the dark ambient and illbient flavor, or the cryptic works of SMPL. Sisk has found himself in a place he recognizes. A place he is familiar with. A place he feel comfortable enough to simply be himself.
Christopher Sisk's first release was in 1997, entitled Inside Us, and was the beginning of something building very quickly. Waves of sound collide against one another amid erratic beats and a chilling touch of synth to create a perfect expression of your soul. Inside Us was followed in quick form by two EP's Something More Familiar (1997) and Spiders Get The Flies (1998), and the album Systems of Presence (1999)... all, including Inside Us, sadly out of print. I'm Driving (2000) was more of a continuation of Systems of Presence than a separate album. Taking the last track, expanding it to three parts and sandwiching an album throughout it. Sighs From Silence (2000) was released as a single to I'm Driving. Later that year came Subtle Change (2000), an album that begins at a train station and ends asking if you ever left. A much more technological album, Subtle Change explores the reality of our modern lives, both professional and personal. You're Walking Away (2000) was released as a single. All these releases showed the continuing development of Creature, but it was all moving closer and closer to a goal that was moving further and further away.
What was missing was the real-life sound that Creature was supposed to embody. Over the next two years, Chris retreated to the studio, working on the occasional remix and recording sounds for his next album, to be titled 367. He launched his web site, almost in frustration during production, which officially launched c367 Records and partnered with Project Aristotle Records in early 2002. A preview of the new album was found throughout the live '367 Show', but it still wasn't complete. 2002 finally brought about the finished work, and fans were stumped. The blips and acid had been replaced with winds, water, and earth - more lush, raw, and unrefined. Sisk's music had began to take a more physical, almost organic form. The underlying themes were still present from his works as 'Creature', but they were now free to roam within an environment of emotions, fears and memories.
Sisk continued to keep from the public eye, only appearing on stage for one night. He performed at the Ambientlive 2k3, US featival held in Denver, CO, opening for Robert Rich and produced a 20 minute continuous mix for Tennessee radio station WRVU (99.1 out of Nashville). In 2003, Sisk produced the White Powder Bubbles EP for Project Aristotle Records and released the recording of his Ambientlive performance on c367 Records. Still the perfectionist, Sisk continues to hold himself within his comfortable studio and experiment on his vast collection of sounds until he feels he's got it just right. As Christopher Sisk rises from that mired studio he calls 'The Breathing Room', a new album is in the works and other projects including his work with fellow collaborator, John Maplethorpe, as 'Todd and Tucker'.
